In order to play in the Northern League they first had to make some major improvements to their ground. This included netting erected behind River End goal, tarmac hard standing laid on two sides of pitch, bottom level of terrace concreted, new dugouts purchased, renovation of old dugouts, installation of a tannoy system, re-opening of gents toilets beneath Main Stand, metal work and walls painted, overhaul of pitch surrounds, re-opening of Railway End turnstiles, installation of a CCTV system and finally the jewel in the crown, the brand new Conference standard floodlights.
